Search for an Interpreter
The AOC compiles and maintains a roster of Nevada Certified/Registered Court Interpreters. This roster is routinely provided to the state courts. It is also routinely provided to other state agencies, and organizations. Included in this roster are the interpreter's name, working language, telephone number, and email address as provided by the interpreter. Please refer to the State Court Administrator Guidelines for additional information.
Sign Language Interpreters and Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) providers who meet the minimum qualifications in this State as required (NRS 656A.080) can be found on the Aging and Disability Services Division Site.
Certified Court Interpreter:
A Nevada Certified Court Interpreter has successfully satisfied all of the following requirements:
- Attended the Orientation Workshop for Nevada Courts conducted by the AOC.
- Achieved a score of 80% or higher on the Written Test.
- Achieved a score of 70% or higher on all three parts of the oral exam.
- Completed the Nevada court observation requirement of 40 hours.
- Submitted a Request for Certification Form.
- Paid $50 administrative fee.
- Passed a criminal history check.
- Has sworn to the oath set forth in NRS 50.054.
Registered Court Interpreter:
A Nevada Registered Court Interpreter has successfully satisfied all of the following requirements:
- Attended the Orientation Workshop for Nevada Courts conducted by the AOC.
- Achieved a score of 80% or higher on the Written Exam.
- Underwent the oral proficiency interview (OPI) with Language Testing International (“LTI”) and received a rating of “Advanced Mid".
- Completed the Nevada court observation requirement of 40 hours.
- Submitted a Request for Certification Form.
- Paid $50 administrative fee.
- Passed a criminal history check.
- Has sworn to the oath set forth in NRS 50.054.
Master Level Court Interpreter:
A 'Master Level' designation is given to Court Interpreters who complied with all mandatory requirements concerning certification status and additionally:
- Achieved a score of 80% or higher on the Written Test as well as on all three parts of the oral exam, or passed the federal certification examination.
