  • Nevada Certified Court Interpreter Program Overview

    The Nevada Certified Court Interpreter Program was established in 2002 through Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 1.510. The Program’s primary function is to administer certification of court interpreters for courts to use with defendants, witnesses, and litigants who speak a language other than English and do not know or have limited knowledge of the English language.
  • Search for an Interpreter

    The AOC compiles and maintains a roster of Nevada Certified/Registered Court Interpreters. This roster is routinely provided to the state courts. It is also routinely provided to other state agencies, and organizations. Included in this roster are the interpreter's name, working language, telephone number, and email address as provided by the interpreter.
  • Courtroom Resources

    These resources provide insightful ideas about successful communication when services of a court interpreter are needed. They have been carefully selected from a wide array of publicly available venues, including but not limited to, the American Bar Association (ABA), U.S. Department of Justice – Federal Coordination and Compliance Section, National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT), etc., to assist the Nevada legal community when working with a growing limited English proficient (LEP) population in Nevada.

Moreover, information regarding continuing education can be found here, including the provider form, alternative study course form, volunteer program form, and verification form.
  • Become a Court Interpreter

    Current basic requirements for Nevada Court Interpreter Certification or Registration include: completing the Written Orientation Workshop for Interpreters in the Nevada Courts System. Court interpreters must also pass the Nevada Certified Court Interpreter Written Exam with a minimum score of 80%, as well as the Nevada Certified Court Interpreter Oral Examination with a minimum score of 70%.
  • Certified Court Interpreter Advisory Committee

    The purpose of the Nevada Certified Court Interpreter Advisory Committee is to conduct an ongoing assessment of Nevada’s Certified Court Interpreter Program in order to make recommendations to the State Court Administrator for improvements to the program. This committee was established through NRS 1.530. The 81st Legislation Session (2021) amended NRS 1.530 further with AB212.
