On August 2, 2017, after considering the information submitted in the final report of the Commission to Study the Administration of Guardianships in Nevada, the Supreme Court of Nevada created a permanent Guardianship Commission to address issues of concern to those persons who would be subject to the guardianship statutes, rules, and processes in Nevada. The Study Commission's final report was filed with the Supreme Court on September 30, 2016 and can be accessed here.

The August 2, 2017, order mandated that a permanent Guardianship Commission be created by September 20, 2017, to study 13 specific areas of guardianship law and make recommendations in a report to the Nevada Supreme Court by January 31, 2018. The August 2, 2017, order can be accessed here.

All Nevada guardianships are administered by Nevada's courts pursuant to Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 159, which will be reviewed by the Commission along with court rules, policies, and procedures.

The Permanent Guardianship Commission is comprised of 21 members with Judge Egan Walker and Judge Linda Marquis serving as co-chairs.
