Commissioner Brown
David Brown is a fourth generation Nevadan, born and raised in Las Vegas, and number seven of eight siblings. He graduated from BYU with a BA in Japanese and Asian Studies after volunteer religious service in Tokyo, Japan. He earned both a Juris Doctorate and Master of Public Administration, also at BYU. He practiced law in California, Utah and Nevada, mostly in construction related litigation from 1998-2016. He also served as legal counsel to the Nevada State Contractors Board from 2005-2016. He was elected as an Assemblyman in the Nevada Legislature, serving from 2000-2004. Since 2016, he has been a Court Commissioner for the Las Vegas Justice Court primarily handling summary eviction cases. Married to Darci Hemsley Brown, they have three children. He enjoys hiking and backpacking adventures, playing hockey with his son, Joseph, and large, loud, extended family gatherings.
