Winter NJLJ 2025
Dear Fellow Judges,
On behalf of the Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction, I welcome you to the 2025 Limited Jurisdiction Judges Winter Seminar from January 28th-31st, 2025.
Our first day of the conference starts with the new judge education beginning at 8:00 a.m. until noon. The education committee will meet at 9:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend and discuss topics for future seminars. The NJLJ Executive Board will meet at 10:00 a.m. The legislative committee will meet over lunch starting at 11:30 a.m. Please attend to discuss the upcoming legislative session. Please check the schedule for meeting room information.
The Seminar’s educational portion will start on Tuesday, January 28th, at 1:00 p.m. Our agenda includes sessions on commonly appealed criminal cases, mental health treatment courts, cyber security, and a judicial panel will discuss handling difficult attorneys and difficult parties. Sessions on high interest loans and credit card debt, jury management, and processing trauma for judges rounds out the week of education.
Our host judge, Ryan Toone, will discuss a number of social opportunities with attendees on the first day of the conference. The seminar reception will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mesquite Fine Arts Center.
The semi-annual NJLJ Business Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 30th, at 11:30 a.m. This meeting is for the general membership to discuss the business of the organization for the upcoming year and hold elections for officers and board members. Members who are unable to attend the business meeting in person may do so by Zoom. The link will be emailed out to judges in the coming weeks by Judge Dorothy Rowley, the NJLJ Secretary.
Our annual awards reception and banquet will start at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 30th. Our group photo will take place at 6:30 p.m. Recipients of judicial education awards will have their individual photos taken prior to the group photo.
