Today, Governor Joe Lombardo announced the appointment of Alexander Morey as Judge for the Second Judicial District, Department 13. The Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection forwarded Mr. Morey’s name after the Second Judicial District, Department 13 was made vacant by the resignation of Judge Bridget Robb earlier this year.
“I am pleased to appoint Alexander Morey to the Second Judicial District, Department 13,” said Governor Lombardo. “Alexander has led a distinguished legal career in Northern Nevada as a law partner and seasoned contributor to Nevada’s legal community. I’m confident in Alexander’s experience to deliver justice with a wide base of knowledge and integrity in this seat.”
Alexander Morey is a Reno-based family law partner at Silverman Kattleman Spriggate Morey, Chtd, where he participates in firm management and strategic decision-making while maintaining a litigation practice focused on complex domestic relations matters. Morey has developed case-management tools and templates to streamline his firm’s domestic relations workflow and routinely represents clients in contested litigation and settlement negotiations.
“I am honored that Governor Lombardo has appointed me as a District Court Judge in Department 13,” said Alexander Morey. “My wife, Dawn, and I have made Washoe County our home for more than 17 years and adore raising our daughters here. As a judge, I will strive to ensure every person is heard, treated with dignity, and given clear, timely results. I look forward to continuing the service of the Washoe County Court to Nevada families.”
Mr. Morey serves on the Family Law Executive Council for State Bar, has chaired the Family Law Specialization Board, and served on committees to revise local court rules to create a pilot program for complex divorce and property proceedings. He provides services through the “Lawyer in the Library” program, has been a bar exam grader (2016-2025), and lectures on Nevada family law, community property, and related practice developments. Morey is an instructor for the Paralegal Studies Certificate Program at the University of Nevada, Reno, and previously served as a research clerk and extern during law school. He is a graduate of Gonzaga University and Lewis and Clark Law School. Outside of practice, Morey volunteers extensively, and is active in his two daughters’ extracurricular activities.
