The Eighth Judicial District, Department IX Judicial Selection application period has opened

The Governor has officially declared the vacancy in Department IX of the Eight Judicial District Court in Clark County, and the application period to be selected as the next judge is open. 

The Governor has officially declared the vacancy in Department IX of the Eight Judicial District Court in Clark County, and the application period to be selected as the next judge is open.  The timeline for this selection process is somewhat compressed as the person who is selected to fill a vacant judicial position must run in the next general election after his or her selection to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the existing term, which in this case ends on January 4, 2027. In order to appear on the general election ballot, the successful applicant will need to file for election during the statutorily provided late filing period beginning June 20, 2022, and ending July 22, 2022. With that in mind, the application period will close on May 9, 2022.
