Nevada Supreme Court Lowers Flag to Half-Staff in 

Honor of Late Judge Hicks 

Carson City, NV (May 30, 2024) – The Nevada Supreme Court will lower its flag to half-staff at both Carson City and Las Vegas state courthouses in honor of late Federal Judge Larry R. Hicks.

Hicks, a U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Nevada for more than 20 years, passed away yesterday at the age of 80.

“Judge Hicks was a wonderful judge and will be greatly missed by the Nevada Judiciary,” stated Nevada Supreme Court Chief Justice Elissa F. Cadish. “In his memory, we are asking all Nevada courts to lower their flags to half-staff.”

Hicks was appointed as a U.S. District Judge in 2001.  He was a University of Nevada, Reno, and University of Colorado School of Law graduate and began his career as a prosecutor in Reno in 1968. In 1975, he was elected Washoe County District Attorney and served until 1979.
