Judge Ryan Katherine Sullivan

Judge Ryan Katherine Sullivan was elected as Justice of the Peace in June of 2016. Prior to joining Reno Justice Court, Ryan practiced indigent criminal defense for 19 years at the Washoe County Public Defender’s office where she held the position of Chief Deputy. Prior to taking the bench, Ryan taught Criminal Law and Procedure at UNR. She was also a regular instructor at the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement Academy and Washoe County School District’s Safe and Drug-Free Schools Program. While at Reno Justice Court Ryan has served multiple terms as Chief Judge and founded HER Court, which is a specialty court focused on women’s healing, empowerment and recovery from trauma and substance use disorders. Ryan is a mother of three children and enjoys reading and running.
