Dear Fellow Judges,Presenter

On behalf of the Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction, I welcome you to the 2024 Limited Jurisdiction Judges Summer Seminar at the Winnemucca Convention Center from June 25th-28th, 2024.

Several meetings will take place on the first day of the seminar. As is customary, the Education Committee will meet before the start of the conference. This meeting will be chaired by our Education Committee Chair, Chief Judge Kevin Higgins, and will begin on Tuesday, June 25th at 9:00 a.m. at the Convention Center. All are welcome to attend and contribute to future seminars - we need your input on future education planning! The NJLJ Executive Board will meet at 10:00 a.m. following the Education Committee. The semi-annual NJLJ Business Meeting is scheduled for the afternoon of June 25th in the Convention Center starting at 3:00 p.m. This meeting is for the general membership to discuss the business of the organization for the upcoming year. Members who are unable to attend the business meeting in person may do so by Zoom. A link will be included with the agenda that is sent out.

The Seminar’s educational portion will start on Tuesday, June 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the Convention Center. Our agenda includes sessions on the admission of scientific evidence, the Fentanyl crisis, and protection orders. Ethics credits will be provided through a Media Relations 101 program as well as the annual judicial discussion panel. Sessions on probable cause, Nevada appellate decisions, managing a jury trial, and judicial wellness will round out the week of learning.

Our host judge, Jim Loveless, has slated amazing social events during the week! The seminar reception will be on Tuesday, June 25th at the Humboldt Museum. On Wednesday, judges will have several group and individual activities to select from, including the popular Ghost Walk along Bridge Street. For Thursday, the Hole Lotta Fun Golf Tournament will put judicial putting skills to the test, followed by the annual dinner at the Winnemucca Golf Course.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am very excited to see everyone in Winnemucca!
