Speaker Biography The Honorable Lori Matheus

Canal Township Justice Court

PresenterJudge Lori Matheus serves as the Justice of the Peace for Canal Township Justice Court, elected in 2018, where she was appointed to serve as Juvenile Hearing Master by the 2nd Judicial District Court from 2016 to 2022.   Prior to this, she held the position of Fernley Municipal Court Judge, a position she continued to hold as a Senior Municipal Court Judge.   She began her career with the Nevada Judiciary in 1992, by serving as the Civil Clerk for Dayton Township Justice Court.  During her career she has had the honor of working as a Court Clerk for the Canal Township Justice Court, Third Judicial District Court.  She has also served as and a Deputy Court Clerk and Judicial Assistant to the Probate Commissioner in the Second Judicial District Court.

Currently, Judge Matheus is a member of the Legislative Committee of the NJLJ and was appointed to serve on Supreme Court’s Commission to Study Best Practices for Virtual Advocacy in Nevada Courts in 2022.  As a Court Clerk she was a member of the NACCA and served as the Associations President from 2000 to 2005.

Judge Matheus grew up and graduated from Yerington High School. She is married to her husband of 35 years, Rick, and they have two sons and four grandchildren.  In her spare time she enjoys camping, kayaking and time with her family.
