Alexia Emmermann

Alexia Emmermann has been an attorney and hearing officer for the Nevada Division of Insurance since November 2011. In 2019, she was appointed Chief Insurance Counsel to lead the Division’s legal team and criminal fraud section. She has worked on an array of insurance issues, such as licensing, health, bail, receiverships, life, property and casualty, and insurance fraud. Before joining the Division, Alexia clerked for administrative law judges in the state of Georgia.
Alexia completed her Masters in Insurance Law through the University of Connecticut School of Law (Fall 2022). She graduated with her Juris Doctor from Washington College of Law of The American University in 2009. During law school, Alexia externed for the U.S. Mint of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, for the Criminal Fraud Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and for the Office of Administration for the Executive Office of the President.
Prior to law school, Alexia worked in marketing for an environmental dot-com, and she was an online journalist for a bilingual web portal catering to the U.S. Hispanic market. She has a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Art in German from Arizona State University.
Alexia is a member of the Nevada State Bar and the New York State Bar, and has published “Adjudication Under the 2010 Model State APA” in A Guide to Federal Agency Adjudication (ABA 2010), and “State Administrative Law” in Developments in Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice 2008–2009 (ABA 2009).
