Fourth Judicial District Court

Judge Mason SimonsJudge Mason E. Simons currently serves as District Court Judge in Department 3 of the 4th Judicial District Court (Elko County), and as the Juvenile Court Judge of his judicial district. He was elected to this seat in 2020 and sworn into office in January 2021. Judge Simons has been a judicial officer in Elko County for nearly 16 years, serving first as Family Court Master for the 4th Judicial District Court (six years), before beginning his concurrent service as Elko Township Justice of the Peace and City of Elko Municipal Judge (eight years) and recently commencing his District Court judicial service (two years). Prior to taking the bench, Judge Simons was a Deputy Public Defender at the Elko County Public Defender’s Office and served as law clerk to the Hon. Gloria S. Sanchez in the 8th Judicial District Court, Family Division. Judge Simons is a graduate of Utah State University and the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Simons is a former member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Nevada, a former member of the Board of Directors and former Treasurer of the Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction and a former member of the Judicial Council of the State of Nevada. Simons is currently enrolled as a master’s degree student in the judicial studies program at the National Judicial College at the University of Nevada, Reno.
