Governmental Outreach

The Supreme Court, Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), furthers its mission of providing access to justice through various programs, outreach, and education efforts. Information about Nevada’s Judicial Branch is a cornerstone of the AOC’s efforts to provide Nevadans with a transparent look at the judiciary.

Annual Report

Since 1999, the Research and Statistics Unit (RSU), has assisted Nevada’s judiciary in reporting caseload measurements based on the Uniform System for Judicial Records (USJR).  This information provided in the USJR statistics is used by the Executive and Legislative Branches to understand the work and accomplishments of the Judicial Branch.  

Research

The primary role of the Research and Statistics Unit is to analyze caseload statistics to provide insight into judicial workload trends and accomplishments. Past research has reviewed efforts to make Nevada courts accessible and fair, the impact of statutes and procedures on the workload of the courts, and the performance of the criminal justice system.

Education

The Judicial Public Information Committee, chaired by Nevada Supreme Court Justice Nancy M. Saitta, organizes education programs for Nevada’s high school and middle school students. Programs such as the Easy Essay Contest and the ABA-recognized Law Day Live, provide an educational and informational voice for Nevada’s courts. The Judicial Education Unit provides conferences and seminars to promote the competency and professionalism of Nevada’s judiciary and court staff. 

Outreach

The Supreme Court, Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), also works to promote an understanding of the judiciary through various outreach programs. For instance, the Judicial Ride-Along program invites legislators and county commissioners to spend a day with a judge. In addition, the Court Public Information Office serves as a liaison between the judiciary and the media updating Nevadans on recent accomplishments, projects, and programs of the judiciary.
