Associate Chief Justice Michael A. Cherry Receives 2018 Liberty Bell Award

Associate Chief Justice Michael A. Cherry and Eighth Judicial District Court Discovery Commissioner Bonnie A. Bulla were honored April 28 with 2018 Liberty Bell Awards. The annual Liberty Bell Award is given to individuals who uphold the rule of law and encourage respect for the legal profession.
The awards were presented by incoming Chief Judge Linda M. Bell, Eighth Judicial District Court, and Judge Mark B. Bailus, Eighth Judicial District Court. Supreme Court Chief Justice Michael L. Douglas commended his colleague and explained the importance of Justice Cherry's accomplishments and contributions to Nevada.
"Justice Cherry set a standard because he believes everyone should have a fair trial. Everyone deserves due process of law," Chief Justice Douglas said.
Students from the Jo Mackey Academy of Leadership and Global Communication offered the Pledge of Allegiance and later posed for a picture with Justice Cherry.
Associate Justice Michael A. Cherry received the Liberty Bell Award with Eighth Judicial District Court (EJDC) Discovery Commissioner Bonnie A. Bulla. Standing with the honorees, Chief Justice Michael L. Douglas and incoming EJDC Chief Judge Linda Bell.
Justice Cherry has been an attorney in Nevada since 1970 and was first elected to the Nevada Supreme Court in 2006.
