Guidelines for the Swearing-In Ceremony

Swearing-in Ceremony

The Nevada Supreme Court Justices will conduct multiple virtual swearing-in ceremonies on Friday, May 14, 2021, to administer the Oath of Attorney to new admittees.  The admittees will be divided into groups small enough that family and friends can witness the admittee taking the oath on the webcast.  Videoconference sessions will be scheduled to start every half-hour beginning at 3:30 p.m.  Please review the following materials to ensure your readiness for your videoconference session.

General Guidelines 

Admittees will be expected to appear on camera while taking the oath.  Please silence cell phones and minimize any other noise in the immediate vicinity while logged into your session.

The swearing-in ceremony is a court session and admittees are expected to observe the same rules, practices and etiquette that apply to physical appearances in court.  While logged into their session, admittees should appear in a quiet setting and be professionally dressed.

Public Viewing

The swearing-in ceremonies will be live webcast for public viewing at:  Admittees are encouraged inform their family and friends of the date and time of their swearing-in ceremony so family and friends can watch the live webcast and share in this momentous occasion.  Admittees, however, may not share their videoconference meeting ID and participant passcodes with others.

Connecting to the Swearing-In Session

The court will be utilizing the BlueJeans videoconference platform to conduct the swearing-in ceremonies.  BlueJeans can be installed on a desktop computer, tablet, or smart phone, or you can join the session by going to  Creating a BlueJeans account is not required.  The device you use must have both audio and video connection capability.  Participation in the swearing-in ceremonies by an audio-only connection will not be permitted. 

You must join your swearing-in session on Friday, May 14, 2021, at least 5 minutes before your scheduled start time.  When you are ready to join your session, go to and click on join meeting and enter the meeting ID and Participant Passcode provided for your swearing-in session.  For attendance purposes, you must enter your full name when joining your session and your video must be activated. 

Protocol for Technical Failures

If you experience any problems with the connection to the session, attempt to reconnect as soon as possible.  If you are unable to reconnect during your scheduled session, contact nvscclerk@nvcourts.nv.govand the court will attempt to provide you with login information for a later session, if any remain. 

The Ceremony

At the beginning of the ceremony, the clerk will call the court to order.  After opening remarks, the clerk will call roll.  A Nevada Supreme Court Justice will then administer the Oath of Attorney to the group.  Because your camera and microphone will be activated when the oath is administered, please mute all other audio sources to avoid creating background feedback.
