During the past quarter (April through June 2019), the Court Improvement Program (CIP) has focused on three primary strategies: improving timeliness to permanency for children; increasing judicial, attorney, and stakeholder's knowledge and expertise; and building systemic capacity through continual quality improvement (CQI) and data exchange.

Data on child welfare case processing and outcomes are not always easy to come by. At the state level, the child welfare agency must report specific data point to the federally government. These data are made available to the public, however, they are limited in scope and only include the largest jurisdictions in the state. Chapin Hall, through their Foster Care Data Archive, works with states to compile their child welfare data in a meaningful way. (more…)

The Supreme Court of Nevada, Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), has created training providing information about how to apply the Nevada Pretrial Risk Assessment (NPRA) tools. In March, the Supreme Court filed an order (ADKT 0539) requiring courts to use the NPRA in determining pre-trial release decisions and directed the AOC to create a statewide training program.

The Administrative Office of the Courts Audit Unit recently updated the frequently asked questions regarding the Minimum Accounting Standards Guide for External Audits to assist both courts and external auditors with the completion of their required four-year independent audits. This guide should be referenced during the current four-year independent audits. A copy of the updated FAQs can be found here. Any questions that arise which are not currently address in this version of the frequently asked questions can be sent to the Audit Unit at firstname.lastname@example.org for review and response.
