Researching Historical Regulations

The Law Library has a comprehensive collection of Nevada regulations, including change pages and revised chapters of the Nevada Administrative Code.  Regulations are issued by Nevada agencies under authority granted by the legislature in the Administrative Procedure Act.  (Note some agencies, such as the Governor, the Nevada System of Higher Education, and the Gaming Commission, are exempt from the Administrative Procedures Act per NRS 233B.039 and promulgate regulations under other sections of the NRS, and their regulations are not included in the NAC.)

The current NAC is posted on the legislature's website as part of its virtual Nevada Law Library.  Generally regulations correspond to the Nevada Revised Statutes chapter authorizing adoption, and NRS 233B.065(2)(b) requires "Citation of authority pursuant to which the agency adopted each section of a permanent regulation."

The Law Library's print collection of superseded NAC chapters is located in a secure area.  Patrons should inquire at the reference desk for assistance using these materials.  The Law Library is digitizing the collection and has posted scanned copies on its consortial website (a link to the NAC is included in the middle of the left navigation bar) using CONTENTdm.  Chapters up to 599B have been added to the database.  Chapters up to 616D have been scanned and will be uploaded shortly.  If you need a chapter that has not yet been scanned, please contact the Law Library and we will attempt to scan and email it to you.
