ADKT 0577: In the Matter of Amendments to SCR 208 and SCR 211 Regarding the Administration of the State of Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education

On September 7, 2021, Ann Morgan, President, State Bar of Nevada, filed a petition to amend Supreme Court Rules (SCR) 79, 115, 121.1, 205, 206, 207, 208, 210, 211, 212, 213, 214, and rescind SCR 215, pertaining to general administrative function in light of the transfer of the operations of the Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) to the State Bar of Nevada.  At the September 23, 2021, public hearing on the petition, the State Bar informed this court that the Board of Governors is considering a grant program that puts MCLE reserve funds to use.  The State Bar submitted a letter, filed on October 4, 2021, providing an overview of the MCLE Reserve Funds Grant Program Guidelines.  The Nevada Supreme Court will conduct a public hearing on the petition on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 3:00 p.m.  An order filed on October 5, 2021, explains how to participate in the hearing and how to submit written comments regarding the amendment. 

ADKT 0588: In the Matter of Amendments to Nevada Code of Judicial Conduct Rule 4.2

On November 3, 2021, James W. Hardesty, Chief Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court, petitioned the Supreme Court to amend Nevada Code of Judicial Conduct (NCJC) Rule 4.2(C) and (C)(3) to comport with the Nevada Legislature’s anticipated amendments to NRS 293.177 relating to the declaration of candidacy in elections.  The petition seeks to delete NCJC 4.2(D) to comport with the Legislature’s 2019 amendment to NRS 293(C).145 and NRS 293C.175 relating to the election filing date for municipal court judges. The Nevada Supreme Court will conduct a public hearing on the petition on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 3:00 p.m.   An order filed on November 4, 2021, explains how to participate in the hearing and how to submit written comments regarding the amendment.
