The 2016 Annual Report of the Nevada Judiciary has been released on the courts website located at http://nvcourts.gov/Supreme/Reports/Annual_Reports/2016_Annual_Report/.
The document provides caseload information for the courts in Nevada, including the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, District Courts, and Limited Jurisdiction courts. Information is included from courts in the state’s 11 judicial districts for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016.
The 46-page report reviews efforts made by the judiciary and other stakeholders to identify and apply solutions to challenges faced by Nevadans. The report highlights matters including:
- Savings of money and time by making the judicial selection process paperless.
- Adding 700 new specialty court participants with legislatively authorized general fund money.
- The efforts beginning to revamp the pre-trial release system in Nevada.
- Commission efforts to reform Nevada’s guardianship system to eliminate abuse and fraud.
“The Nevada Judiciary has not only aptly managed crushing case loads, they have expanded and refined many programs implemented to address very real, personal, and social matters that affect our citizens embroiled in the legal process,” said Chief Justice Ron D. Parraguirre.
The annual report also is available to the public as a printed document at the Administrative Office of the Courts offices in Carson City or Las Vegas. Copies are distributed to area libraries for public review.
Cover art for the Annual Report was donated by Perri Duncan, a professional watercolor artist from Elko (perriduncangallery.com).
