Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Scheduled for the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals

Grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremonies are scheduled for the new courtrooms and chambers for the Supreme Court of Nevada and Nevada Court of Appeals. The ceremonies will begin at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017, at the 5th Street School followed by ribbon cutting and tours at the Supreme Court of Nevada and Nevada Court of Appeals Building.
The State's top political and judicial leaders will take part in the opening presentation. Political dignitaries include: Chief Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court Michael Cherry; Chief Judge of the Nevada Court of Appeals Abbi Silver; Governor Brian Sandoval; Nevada Supreme Court Justice James Hardesty; Speaker of the House Assemblyman Jason Frierson; Majority Leader Senator Aaron Ford; Minority Leader Senator Michael Roberson; Mayor Carolyn Goodman; Clark County Commission Chairman Steve Sisolak; State Bar of Nevada President Bryan Scott; and EHB Companies Building Developer Yohan Lowie, EHB Companies, LLC.
The courthouse has offices and chambers for the Supreme Court of Nevada and Nevada Court of Appeals and a 72 seat grand courtroom for oral arguments. It was constructed with GREEN principles in mind – seeking to achieve a LEED Gold certification. The building is the only LEED Gold State Supreme Courthouse in the country, said Yohan Lowie, a principal of EHB Companies, LLC, the builder and owner of the courthouse.
