Nevada Supreme Court Justices, Nevada Court of Appeals Judges, Governor Brian Sandoval, dignitaries, and elected officials celebrated the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for the opening of the new Nevada Supreme Court courthouse in downtown Las Vegas March 27.
Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Justice James W. Hardesty, and EHB Companies Principal Yohan Lowie Cut the Ribbon Opening the Courthouse.
The building features a 72-seat courtroom with design styling reminiscent of the first U.S. Supreme Courtroom. Wood paneling, red velvet curtains, and red stadium chairs give the courtroom a distinctive appearance. The courthouse also features offices and chambers for the justices and appeals judges.
The courthouse is a two-story white marble-faced structure. It expands the presence of the Supreme Court in Las Vegas with 26,000 square feet of space.
The courthouse was built by EHB Companies and will be leased by the judiciary. It increases space for the courts by nearly 11,000 square feet and the lease provides $466,116 in savings in the first nine years over the previous lease at the Regional Justice Center.
