2017 Court Interpreters Program Oral Performance Examination

Certified Court Interpreters Program hereby announces the offering of the Oral
Performance Examination in both Las
Vegas and Carson City in
April 2017. The dates are April 11 &
12, 2017 (Carson City) and April 18-20, 2017 (Las Vegas). The languages
available for oral testing are the following:
- Haitian Creole
The oral performance examination is designed to determine whether a candidate possesses the minimum levels of language knowledge and interpreting skills required to perform competently during court proceedings. The test measures language knowledge and fluency in both languages as well as the ability to successfully render meaning from target to source language in simultaneous interpreting, consecutive interpreting, and sight translation of documents.
Procedural and mechanical aspects of the exam
Candidates who have complied with all state requirements can apply to take the test. The requirements are as follows:
- Completed the mandatory "Orientation Workshop for Interpreters in Nevada Courts"
- Achieved a successful score of 80% or higher on the Written Test
Please download and properly fill out a 'Registration Form'. The deadline to register is March 29, 2017. Any 'Registration Form' submitted/postmarked after the deadline will not be accepted.
The required registration fee is $300 for Nevada residents, $600 for out-of-state residents.

Nevada residents will be given first preference, as seating is limited. The fee is not refundable if a candidate has pre-registered and does not appear for the scheduled oral exam.
Please note that the AOC reserves the right to cancel this event in either location should there be an insufficient number of participants or if other circumstances necessitate cancellation. In the event of cancellation, registration will be refunded.
A notification regarding the exact testing location, test date, and specific time of appointment will be sent upon receipt of the registration form and appropriate payment.
- Exam Day
Candidates must appear on time at the test site, confirm registration information, and provide photo identification. They can expect to complete the entire process in 60 minutes or less. They will not be allowed to bring any purses, handbags, or other similar personal belongings that have not been opened and examined into the test room. Tape recorders or any other mechanical devices will not be allowed inside the test room.
