Budget and Accounting
The everyday task of making sure the judiciary pays its bills falls to the Budget and Accounting Unit. This unit also helps the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) submit a robust and accurate biennial budget to the Nevada Legislature.
The cost of running the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Clerk of the Court, Law Library and the AOC represents roughly $32 million of Nevada’s General Fund. This is less than 1 percent of the $9 billion total statewide budget approved by the Nevada Legislature.
The Budget and Accounting Unit diligently tracks revenues and expenditures which allows the judiciary to plan for future projects. This provides accountability to the taxpayers and helps the judiciary promote transparency.
